From when I can remember, I was fascinated by Disney characters. I memorized every character’s facial features and movements in different animated styles and movements in drawing. I could recite the dialogue in every movie (including the intonation of each character’s voice) and sing every word to every song by ear. In my early teens, I was told I was a calendar savant. I had a lot of fun with that skill! It was also then that I started to notice the visual difference and animation styles used by Disney vs. Pixar.
Later, I took an interest in listening to various styles of composers like Alan Menken and Randy Newman. From that point on, I knew that my dream someday was to be a future Disney animator… someone like me would come up with characters and have the perfect song style for them.
At age 18, I fell in love with photography. I took beautiful scenic pictures and started to enhance and remaster them with editing features on my phone. I loved seeing my creations and showed anyone who was interested in the “before” and “after” photos. I was inspired by the Disney Digital Restoration Team, where they remastered classic animated films to be released in this groundbreaking new restoration.
To this day, I hand draw every birthday card and Valentine’s Day message to my mom. She even loves my perfect freehand drawings and her that friends are marveled at my artwork.
Having to graduate from OLS in 2021 while holding down a part-time job, my next big adventure is to learn all about animation! Starting from today, I can fulfill my dreams and create something for all to enjoy.
